Tim's Messages

I have been in this church along with his family since January 2004, when we moved from Glenmore Park (Penrith).

I am married to Sandra and have 5 children.
Jordan is the eldest, he is at Uni at the Shoalhaven Campus of the Uni of Wollongong and is doing and Arts degree and is hoping to get into the primary school teaching. Jordan helps run youth group, loves playing soccer (with Shoalhaven United) and has been going out with Louise for more than two years.

Benji is next - he is at Nowra Christian School in year 11 and is doing three of his HSC assessments this year in Maths, Earth Science and PDHPE. Benji also plays soccer (with Shoalhaven United), plays the drums and writes songs.

Ryan is in year 9, also plays soccer with United, plays the piano, is creative with his drawing on the computer and will be running with Benji and I in the City to Surf in August.

Brooke is next, is in year 7, also plays the piano, plays soccer, and loves her craft and hanging out with her friends.

Finally, we have Tyson. Tyson is 5 ½ and is in kindy at the Christian School. He plays mini soccer, loves to play with his friends, his favourite toys and our beagle named Buddy.

Sandra and I celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this year. We met in Canberra at Youth with a Mission, were married there and ran the youth and children’s ministry arm of YWAM called King’s Kids for ten years before leaving to go back into the ministry in the Uniting Church.

Sandra is a people person, is gifted in working alongside families with small children - but has now taken on the Chain Reaction ministry. Sandra is also a choreographer and dancer, and loves to disciple young people through dance. Originating from Deniliquin in the Riverina, Sandra is a country girl at heart and loves to be involved with people in the community.

Me (Tim), my Dad was a Methodist minister (then Uniting), I trained as a youth worker in the early 80’s, worked in that field, worked with YWAM for 13 years and then trained as a Rev. 2001-2003. I was ordained in 2003 and Nowra is my first position as minister.

I am a sportsman, love all kinds of sports - but currently play and coach (juniors) with United (over 35’s) soccer club. I personally believe that an understanding of sports culture is an essential component to presenting the Christian message into Australian society I am presently working on a doctoral thesis along those lines. I hope to have the doctorate (through Tabor Adelaide) finished in about three years.
Apart from sports - my main passions are my family and my music. I play the guitar and sing...

I enjoy being involved with people in our local community. Sandra and I teach scripture at Terara and I regularly organise weddings, funerals and baptisms for people from outside my local church - with a real personal emphasis - with the hope that these connections will turn into ongoing friendships.

Having Fun on holidays in Deniliquin
Tim and Sandra Winslade
