Care Corner
is an initiative of the Nowra Uniting Church at the Nowra Show, providing facilities
over the two days, for changing nappies, feeding babies, having complementary
light refreshments or just having a quiet ‘sit-down’ to rest
weary feet.
2006 was
another successful ministry opportunity while providing a much needed
service to many people in the community. Many interesting conversations
were held with young mums. 104
people passed through our tent over Friday & Saturday. We tried some
different advertising ideas this year, with some colourful flyers
distributed at the gate to families with prams. Also we handed out flyers
from the tent. We advertised 'baby change facilities' in the toilet block
directing them to Care Comer.
 The Show Society supported these new
ideas. The new location of Care Comer this year had both positive and
negative effects. The new situation gave good exposure especially for
families with prams and strollers, but volunteers and visitors were disappointed
at not being able to see the arena activities while resting in the tent.
