The Group
- The Basics
and Beyond Group has an informal leadership and structure with no
stated office bearers and is strictly ‘pay your own way’
and does not expect fees from members or funding from the church.
- It is
responsible to the Church Council by reports from members who are on
the Council and by keeping the Minister and Pastoral Assistant fully
informed of its activities.
- The group is
open to both Nowra UC members and friends of the Nowra UC members in the
group. Currently the group
comprises approximately 26 persons and more than 60% of those are
members of the Nowra UC.
Objects of the group
are:
- Establishing
a home discussion group/s
- Fostering
friendship and social interaction
- Exploring the
faith in a spirit of open-ness
- Engaging in
discussion on social, cultural and political issues
- Adopting an
attitude of unity in diversity
- To develop
new groups when numbers warrant
- To share
knowledge and experiences with a membership open to all
Group Meetings and
Activities:
 The
group meets in the homes of members on the second Sunday of each month
for lunch (can be either b.y.o. or shared) and discussion.
- In addition
to our regular meetings in 2005 we also participated in an
‘away’ week
at a beach
holiday site and shared friendship and relaxing times. In the evenings
we worked
through the NSW Synod 2004 Bible Study.
